Alan D. Boyd
Alan D. Boyd is a British/Canadian composer, writer and performer whose career has taken him from cult Canadian garage band The Gruesomes to scoring music for television and film; producing and composing for theatre; releasing critically acclaimed records and creating extraordinary live audio visual performances.
Having relocated to London in 1994 and toured extensively throughout the 90's, he decided to focus on his love for cinematic music and, creating the band Little Sparta, caught the attention of television producers and directors in the UK and North America. Since then he has been composing, producing and writing and producing for productions by the BBC, C4, the Discovery CHANNEL 4 and the National Film Board of Canada as well as releasing records and performing live with both Little Sparta and The St. Just Vigilantes.
The Day Of The Triffids
Composer Alan D. Boyd developed the initial themes for The Day of the Triffids over a period of many months consulting with director Nocholas Copus with whom he has been a long time collaborator. The ideas he presented won over the producers and were expanded to create a cohesive score that captures the intensity and drama of a post-apocalyptic world without compromising the emotional story at the heart of this modern version.
Working closely with Felix Erskine, whose skill and experience as an
orchestrator belie his age, the music developed to be a truly grand rendition of the original ideas. The result is a suitably tense epic score equally at home on the big and small screens.
The Day of the Triffids was mixed in 5.1 and is available to buy on DVD in the UK from February 1st 2010. The score album will be available soon.
