Ryan J. Smith
Graduating in Music and Audio Technology in 2002, Ryan has worked as a studio engineer with a range of artists, including Edinburgh
indie outfit Saint Jude’s Infirmary, whose debut album went onto receive a
national independent release with SL Records and the critical praise of
Q-Magazine. He has spent a number of years as a live and studio based session
piano and keyboardist, sharing billings with artists such as Wings guitarist
Henry McCullough, whilst providing both in-house and freelance mixing and
production expertise to clients across a variety of genres.
His continuing work as a solo
classical pianist has yielded a client list which includes some of the leading
figures in the world of commerce, sport and media. He has showcased his musical
skills at world famous sporting
events such as the 2010 British Open and the annual Dunhill Championship.
With his true passion being film and
soundtrack music, Ryan has made a career move into media composition. Combining his musical and compositional
talents with his production skills, he has since been composing a catalogue of
music for the Felt Music Library and working on bespoke projects to client
briefs. His original score for a theatre production of The Crucible received
acclaimed reviews at the 2009 Edinburgh Fringe Festival.
Ryan has recently had his music
featured with the BBC in the globally broadcast documentary, Around The World
In 90 Minutes.
